Biography:

Pidji is a very handsome pony, extremely chic and spirited, well put together with good, wide feet. His head, inherited from his Welsh Pony dam, is very expressive and he has a lovely, well-defined crest. He has a good, strong shoulder, nicely placed withers and a supple but solid back. His quarters are generous and strong, his hocks are solid and he moves them remarkably well, particularly in his very strong trot. His three paces are spectacular: he has lots of engagement, with long paces, is beautifully supple, very well balanced and has a good forehand action with a movement that starts from the top of his shoulder. Jumping, he has a classic style. Electric in front, he picks up well and has a scopey jump, combined with a real intelligence for judging the take-off and a winner’s mentality.

At 2 and 3-years-old, Pidji won the local conformation and paces class at Fontainebleau, all breeds and sizes mixed.

In 2006 he was crowed 3-year-old male Champion at the Grande Semaine at Saumur with an average of 76.75%.

In 2007, following a double clear in the 4-year-old C pony finals, he had the mention Excellent (9 clears from 11 rounds during the season) and an IPO of 128 making him second top C pony of his generation.

In 2008 he was placed 4th in the 5-year-old C pony finals, once again classed as Excellent (11 clears out of 12) and still the 2nd best C pony of his generation with an IPO of 129.

International Welsh Competition, France - Belgium at Buzancy, 23 May 2009.
Pidji du Tilia SL was the part-bred Welsh stallion champion, 4-years-old and over.

Sire Info

His sire Fidji du Fleury (1989 - 2005), ISO 167 in 2000, is a Belgian riding horse, descended from two Selle Français parents (Le Tot de Semilly x St Brendan). After an international career in CSI and CSIO ridden by Rodrigo Pessoa and then by Stephane Delaveau, he never stopped climbing the world rankings for stallion sires of CSI winners (75e in 2007, joint with none other than Dollar du Murier) Despite only having a few offspring born in France, Fidji was joint 31st in 2008 based on his BSO (BLUP for show jumping): +21 (0,90), this time alongside Dollar de la Pierre.

Dam Info

His dam Hourloupe du Tilia, Welsh Pony of 1m27, born in 1995, has never competed and has always been used for breeding. She is descended from two performers having won at the highest level of show jumping in their size category. Her sire Elvey Jarnac was an exceptional size C stallion. A great performer show jumping and eventing in horse classes (ICC 121 and ISO 110), he started his pony career late in which he earned the title of French show jumping Champion in C2 Ponam in 1993 and a 6th place at the French show jumping Championships in C1 Ponam in 1994. Only really starting his stud career in 1992, he had the same success in breeding as in sport, becoming one of the leading sires of French sport ponies. He was ranked 3th in the sires of dams of young ponies following the Cycle Classique pony show jumping circuit in 2007 based upon their winnings. Hourloupe is dam to 5 foals. The two who are old enough to be indexed are: Moon Knight Tilia, Welsh Pony gelding, 1m24, IPO 106 (08) and IPD 115 (05) and Pidji du Tilia, Pfs stallion, 1m38, IPO 129 (08) and IPD 101 (07). Her son, Sir Raspoetin Tilia, Welsh Pony stallion, has shown lots of promise loose jumping in his two and three-year-old trials. Hourloupe’s dam, Nouhka de Gabriac, remarkable daughter of the breed leader Kirby Cane Statecraft, started her career in a very promising way being graded as ‘Excellent’ in ridden and jumping aptitude competitions as well as in classes for conformation and paces. She continued to confirm this. In 1987 she was the B pony French show jumping Champion ridden by Leslie Pelat. The following year a wrong course deprived her of a second consecutive title. Nouhka had a real winner’s mentality. Although she was just a small B pony (1m23) she made light, ridden, of 1m40. To prove her exceptional ability she even competed in horse classes. Put to stud, she has only had 7 offspring, of which two are mares (both broodmares) and 3 sons who are stallions. All of her male progeny are indexed: Elton des Bois, IPO 110 (00); Goya du Tilia, IPO 118 (00) and 5-year-old B champion in 1999; Kador du Tilia, IPO 130 (08) and approved Welsh stallion with 3 qualifications (conformation: 15.6/20, paces: 8/10 and jumping: 8.5/10); Look Tilia, IPO 90 (08), Welsh stallion; Movie Star Tilia, IPO 139 (07), Pfs stallion, 5-year-old C champion in 2005, show jumping performer in D1 Ponam Grand Prix and sire of the Pfs stallion, Rock Star de la Fosse. Movie was her last foal, but Nouhka will have kept in great shape for 30 years, displaying an extraordinary action in trot which allowed her in 1996, between two pregnancies, to be placed 4th in her class and the 1st French pony in the rudely contested ‘International Welsh Show’ at Compiègne.
