Biography:

• Winner of the stallion approvals in the small horse section at Verden in 1993, Welcome Sympatico SL was then placed 4^th of 50 in performance tests in 1995 (2^nd for jumping).

• Ridden by Karin Ernsting, he went on to have a magnificent international career for his modest height (141 placings over courses of 1m50 and 1m55), then, from the end of 2006 ridden by the Engemann’s son Niklas - who was only 12-years-old - over smaller courses (up to 1m25).

Throughout his career Welcome Sympatico SL notched up 16,233€ of winnings and can count 188 placings, including 21 wins.

To introduce Sandro would almost be an offence to informed breeders’. The sire of Welcome Sympatico SL, who ended his stud career at the Zangersheide stud where he died at the age of 32-years-old, carved himself a solid reputation as an elite sire, as much for show jumping as for dressage. One of the first stallions to lead a sporting career in parallel with his stud career, he accumulated around 28,000€ in international classes ridden by Franck Sloothaak, in an era when winnings were not what they are today. The World Equestrian Games at La Haye (1994) featured three of his offspring: Sandro Song, Safari and Paradiso. Many of his other descendants compete at high level in his image. Sire of over 40 approved stallions; Sandro has bred daughters who have also produced very good Grand Prix winners such as Lasango, Lausano, Risandro, Filias, High Class, Cappucino, Santa Fe… ridden by the best riders in the world. He is the only descendant of the brilliant crossbred Sacramento Song (pure-bred Holstein breed leader) x Walmfried, at the roots of several internationals such as Cathleen (Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum), Zigeunerin (Rodrigo Pessoa)… Sandro, more recently, sired the magnificent stallion Sandro Boy who has evolved to the very highest international level ridden by Marcus Ehning.

Sympatico’s dam, Patella, was a good winner in the 3 disciplines, bringing home almost 2000€ between 1984 and 1987, particularly in show jumping in 1m30/1m40 classes. She measured 1m57, and produced small. Two of her daughters are classed as ‘Staatsprämie’. She also bred Copa d'Oro (Contender), winner in England in 1m50 classes ridden by Rob Ehrens, Aldatico (Aldatus), also winner in 1m50 classes in Southern Germany and finally Calm Down (Continue), sold to Spain for 35,750€ at the Verden auctions in 2002.
