Fox Creek’s Curious George

George was one of the very first ponies I ever bred. He was a second generation breeding of mine - I also bred his dam. My son Charlie and George grew up together. Charlie was only 6 yr. old when George was born and he named him Curious George because that was his favorite tv show. Charlie started out competing George on our local hunter circuit. They soon graduated to the “A” circuit competing in the Medium Hunter Pony ring. They competed at Pony Finals in the Medium Hunter Ponies 2 years in a row.

By the time Charlie was 13 yr old and George was 7 yr old they were regularly jumping clear 1.10m and 1.15m courses. They competed against the big guys in the 1.0 m jumpers at Wellington - often finishing in the top 5 in huge classes of 75 or more horses - they were always the only pony. On more than one occasion Charlie and George went straight from the jumper ring to the hunter ring. Their 3rd year at Pony Finals they were double qualified to compete in both the Medium Hunter Ponies and the Jumper Pony Championship. They won the Pony Jumper Farewell class in which George was the smallest pony competing at 13.2 hands. George was also 3rd in the Pony Finals Medal class out of over 100 ponies.

After Charlie outgrew George he joined Over The Hill Farm with Bill Schaub and a wonderful new family with 2 little girls. George has an easy life now taking care of his new girls in the Medium Pony Hunter ring and continues to compete at Pony Finals just about every year.
